Fast Forward Vocational Training

Who are we?

Fast Forward Vocational training is an alternative training provision, we work with a range of schools and pupil referral units in order to deliver vocational training within engineering and mechanics along with Functional Skills Maths and English in partnership with TeamSport Indoor Karting across the UK.

Emerging from a concept with Humberside Police to work with young people in Hull Fast Forward quickly grew with local schools and PRU’s seeking support to meet the needs of their students.

Fast forward’s mission has always been to provide disaffected, disadvantaged and disengaged young people an opportunity to achieve, bridging the gap for the hard to reach young people and their peers.

Accredited by BTEC and SEG Fast Forward specialises in Mechanics and Engineering, however will endeavour to work with schools in order to meet a student’s needs where possible.

Our History & Journey

Fast Forward Vocational Training began in Hull as an initiative focused on supporting young people in the area who were struggling to engage with mainstream education. Our organisation’s roots trace back to 2013, when the founding family started volunteering with Humberside Police, working directly with local young people and communities. As the positive impact of this work became clear, local schools began requesting support for students who needed a more practical and engaging approach to learning, leading to the development of a more structured vocational provision.

In 2019, we formed a partnership with Team Sport Indoor Go-Karting to create a unique alternative provision model that combines vocational learning with the engagement of sport. Starting with a small pilot programme in Bradford for just eight learners, the model was designed to re-engage young people who had become disengaged from traditional education by offering hands-on learning, clear progression routes, and real-world opportunities. The programme quickly demonstrated its effectiveness and was recognised by Ofsted in 2022 as the “gold standard of alternative provision.”

Since then, Fast Forward Vocational Training has grown rapidly, expanding to multiple locations across the UK and supporting hundreds of learners each year from a variety of settings. The organisation now delivers vocational education that improves attendance, engagement, and long-term outcomes for young people, with many progressing into further education, training, or employment. By providing a supportive environment and relevant vocational pathways, we strive to help young people reconnect with learning and build positive futures.
